KCM Student WebfolioTidewater Community CollegeCurriculumMy field of study is Computer Science. I am currently taking classes in computer networking, along with other courses required for an Associate Degree in Computer Science. Fortunately, I already have an Associate Degree in Administration of Justice, and many of the courses that were required for it count toward this degree. My plans are to continue my education after obtaining my Associate Degree, probably pursuing a Bachelor's Degree from Old Dominion University. I plan to continue attending school on a part-time basis until I earn my Bachelor's Degree. My goal is to complete the requirements for my Associate Degree in June, 1999, and to receive my Bachelor's Degree in June, 2002. CareerI am currently employed as an Area Service Representative for the Tennant Company. I service industrial floor maintenance equipment in the Tidewater area. I plan to incorporate my computer skills into my job. I hope to be involved in a pilot program that will test the feasibility of using laptop computers and cellular protocols in our company's service vehicles. Eventually, I would like to work in the Service Training department of Tennant, traveling as needed to provide training and support for Area Service Representatives within our company. I plan to continue to build and repair personal computers, and I would also like to serve as a consultant for small companies that want to integrate computers and computer networks into their businesses. CoursesHumanities 105 has been my first on-line class. I have enjoyed it immensely, and I hope there will be other on-line courses available in the future that will be beneficial for me to take. I have already recommended it to others, and will continue to do so. Other courses I have enjoyed at TCC include IST 216, Personal Computer Hardware Troubleshooting, and IST 195, Topics in Windows NT for Networking. College ActivitiesI work full time and carry an average of ten hours each semester, so I have not found time to become involved in any formal college activities. I find that between family, school, and work, I have a schedule that demands 26 hours out of every 24-hour day!
