Curriculum
As a young child growing up in a small city I had big dreams of becoming a veterinarian. My mom owned her own business of boarding and grooming dogs so we always had lots of dogs around as well as other animals such as horses, goats, ducks, chicken, and so on. As I go older and moved out on my own I saw all of the pain in the world I decided to change my curriculum. I decided to be a doctor. I have had a few close calls with death and I think it is amazing what God has given doctors the power to do. I have also had the pleasure of running into a few doctors with not so great manners. This lead me to want to be the kind of doctor that people do not mind coming to visit. I want to be able to help people, but I also want to be a friend. I feel as though if someone you barely know has to get into your life story then at least they can be nice about it. I currently go to TCC part-time in the evening due to long working hours at my job. I have been going to TCC for about 21/2 years and have only a few credits left before I get my Associate of Science degree. I then plan to move back to my home state of Alabama and attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham. This is a great medical school and this is where I plan to finish my degree. I enjoy college, but I can barely wait until the day I am done with school and have a great accomplishment to look back on.
Career Plans
My career plans are to one day open up my own practice back home in Alabama. There are not a whole lot of physicians back home and most of them only do what the patient tells them. It seems as though they only want to keep their patients without really trying to cure the problem at hand. After all they continue to make money when the patients keep coming back. Most of the physicians back home are all older doctors. They look as though they should have retired years ago and do not seem to be quite up today on new medicine. I care about a great deal of people back home and would love to see them get the kind of medical attention they deserve. I do want to have a great deal of experience before opening my own business so I plan to work at the hospital at UAB where I plan to finish school. I want to work in the Emergency Room for a few years to get the experience of seeing a wide variety of trauma before treating patients in my own client. I have also provided a link to the health center I plan on working at during my training.
